This is a family owned and operated business that has been around for 80 years as of August 2004.  Originally known as Howell Feed Store, three generations of Howell's managed to keep things going.  I. B. Howell was the first when he opened the doors in August of 1924.  One corner of the building was an ice house made with a concrete floor.  In its early life with few paved roads and customers arriving by horse and buggy, the original Howell Feed Store was the only stopping point between Dallas and Fort Worth to get a "cool" drink of water.

This store has always been a feed store.  Other items were sold as well.  Household appliances like refrigerators and televisions were once sold here.  Today, with the help of our faithful customers, we have expanded our inventory to encompass most necessities of animal owners and homeowners.  In 1992, Howell Feed Store was purchased by Jim Taber and family and has operated it since under the name Handley Feed Store, Inc..
